Well, there’s the Halloween parade.  You know I have to post her picture about that.

Pretty but Evil

She wanted to be pretty but evil.  We found the dress at Ross’ for $9.99.  She wanted a regular dress and not a costume so here it is.  We got the props at the Costume Castle.  I am very very pleased with the results.  So was she.

When I picked her up from school today she saw a jacket in the back seat with her.  I had thought it was hers.  She asked me who’s it was and I didn’t know.  She said “Oh, it’s Aunt Sandi’s”.  I asked her how she knew and she said she smelled it.  It smelled like Aunt Sandi’s house.  Now, don’t get me wrong, Aunt Sandi’s house doesn’t smell like anything (I think).  It’s not messy or a cat house or a dog house or anything.  That’s the best part.  Sure enough, I went walking with Sandi yesterday and she must have left her jacket.  Now this girly smells all the gum in the grocery aisle when we are checking out.  She is obsessed with smells and has a very super sensitive schnoz!  I was very pleased!  That’s it for today.  Happy Halloween!

I don’t know if you are all interested, but I hit 20 pounds lost today on my ticker at the right over there. That’s right baby! Depression and constant pain help you lose weight and get to your goal!

I am finishing up my baby blanket slowly but surely and finishing some spinning I started forever ago. I finished one bobbin of 8 ounces of silk/alpaca in brown and cream. I have some dark chocolate colored pure alpaca with a bunch of vegetation in it that I am spinning up to ply with the blend. I believe it will be beautiful together. It will be 16 ounces all together in a two ply. I have never done that much before in one project and it should be done within the next couple days or so. I can’t wait to ply and finish and display! Bella has asked me if I will knit her a dress with it when I am done. Are you kidding? No way Jose! I don’t know what I will do but I am thrilled to finish it up.

The alpaca is soft like butter so it should be super soft when it’s finished (I hope).  The bobbin in the front is the blend and a full 8 ounces on there and the brown I am working on now is on the farthest bobbin.  This is a picture I took months ago when I started.  I decided to finish up unfinished projects and knitting and it’s going very well!

I don’t even know! I have been busy and sick and having all kinds of fun. I haven’t blogged in a while so I thought I would write it all down so I didn’t feel so bad about being missing.

After finishing my Susie I had to concentrate on my baby blanket for my dear friend, Victoria. She is Isabella’s Godmother and I am her baby’s Godmother. Of course, I didn’t finish. I’ll get back to that. This baby blanket I am making in Berroco Comfort DK. It’s very soft and I don’t mind it at all for acrylic. It’s really soft and most importantly, washable. I can’t find a photo of the finished blanket anywhere but it’s six large triangles knit in garter stitch and then stitched together to make a circle. I am enjoying it and it’s going quickly. I am using a dark pink, pale pink, and brown to match the baby’s room. It’s 100% a girl baby which is awesome and Bella’s thrilled about this.

This last weekend was the baby shower for Baby Brown. I catered it! I love to cook and the food went over very well. However, this led to a busy weekend of cooking and working on my birthday, which was Friday. This is yet another excuse for not finishing the blanket.

The next excuse is my cold/infection. I got it a few weeks back and lost my voice almost completely for two weeks. At this point, I am a walking pharmaceutical experiment! I am taking antibiotics, pain medications for my sciatica, and my daily old lady crap for blood pressure, menopausal stuff, etc. It’s ridiculous! The good news is I am feeling TONS better now and almost 100% cold/infection wise. My sciatica is another story though but improving. I have a bulging disc (semi-normal) and arthritis which the doctor says is very normal. I feel like I am completely falling apart and aging way faster than anyone else. Ok so my medical complaining is now out of the way.

I intend to finish the baby blanket this week. I have 1.5 triangles left to complete and then the stitching together. It’s going to be big and soft and pink and sweet. I am thrilled. Here is a hint or two about how it will look.

Labels

This is my first finished object that I can put a label in. It’s not as much fun putting a label in my own sweater but isn’t it cute? I like them and they will go in all my Christmas knitting projects.

Here it is! It’s done! I love it! The sleeves are longer than I thought they would be. I am very happy about that though. I am a litt

le tall so long sleeves aren’t usually a problem for me. I love to have longer sleeves to keep me warm and toasty but I don’t normally get that because of my height. There are a few errors in my cabling but I am not at all upset about it. They are minor and I can surely live with them.  If you want to see where they are specifically, have a look at my photostream on Flickr (unless you can spot them here).

Other than some confusion in the pattern, I loved knitting this.  It really knit up quicker than I thought and turned out really nicely.  Some people over on the Susie Hoodie Knit Along on Ravelry have said that they wouldn’t knit such a large project with Lion Brand Wool Ease as I have done here.  I disagree for the simple reason that I want to wear this sweater.  I want to wear it and wash it and dry it.  I want to use it often and wash it frequently.  This way, I can surely do this.  I want this project to be durable and not fragile.  I don’t want to have to worry about it felting or my husband accidentally drying it or anything like that.  I love this sweater and I can wear it today.  I am wearing it today!

My friend is having a contest on her blog.  I am participating in that contest.

I will be posting a finished object post by the weekend as soon as it cools down enough for me to wear my Susie Hoodie!
